From Synthetic Turf Offcuts to Tidy Turf Mats – How It All Began

The woman behind Tidy Turf Mats 💚

Hi, I’m Brooke — the woman behind Tidy Turf Mats.

Our story actually started long before Tidy Turf Mats became the brand you see today.

For years, our family has worked in the synthetic turf industry through our installation business, Tidy Turf Gold Coast. We’ve also always loved caravanning and camping, and whenever we headed away, we’d throw some synthetic turf offcuts from our installations into the caravan to use around our campsite.

And then something funny started happening…

People kept asking if they could buy them from us! 😂

We quickly realised there was something in it.

What started with leftover pieces of turf from our installation business slowly turned into an idea — and around seven years ago, Tidy Turf Mats was born.

Being caravanners ourselves, I started thinking about how we could make the mats more practical specifically for caravans. That’s when I created our original step mats — including the Velcro mat designed to attach to the pull-out caravan step and our mat designed for the portable step.

Those products came from our own experience camping as a family and wanting something that actually worked.

Seven years later, that little idea has grown into a whole range of Tidy Turf Mats, with our products now sold and used by caravanners all over Australia. 🇦🇺

And behind it all, we’re still a small family business.

I’m a mum, wife, caravanner and business owner, constantly coming up with new ideas, designing products and working out what we can do next.

Probably one of my favourite things is travelling around Australia and seeing a Tidy Turf Mat outside someone’s caravan and thinking…

“I actually created that.” 😀 💚

It’s pretty special when I think back to where it all began — a family going camping with a few synthetic turf offcuts in the caravan!

So to everyone who has bought one of our mats, recommended us, visited us at a caravan show, stocked our products or simply followed along over the years — thank you.

You’ve helped turn a few turf offcuts and an idea into the family business we have today.

This is the story behind Tidy Turf Mats. And I’m very proud to be the woman behind it. 💚
